Thoughts as of June 13, 2010 – When I first created this page, I wanted to put goals for 2010 here, but was we are, at this point, precisely halfway through 2010 and barely a finger has been lifted to complete the below goals, I am not sure this is the best use of this space. And God knows space is limited on the web.
Lately, I’ve really wanted to share random things that interest me now or have inspired me in the past – mostly in the way of quotations for previous website projects. So, for the time being, this page will become a collection of randomness to share. I’ll keep my goals here for good measure (comments or updates to goals added as such). ;)

Quotations:
From Rhapsody on a Windy Night by T.S. Eliot:
“Regard the moon, / La lune ne garde aucune rancune, / She winks a feeble eye, / She smiles into corners. / She smooths the hair of the grass. / The moon has lost her memory.”
It isn’t fair to only quote this part of the poem, but the first two lines are the ones that often get caught in my head. I enjoy the entire thing, particularly the beginning. You’ll notice that the imagery invoked by Eliot is repeated often in his other poems. Around 1998, on one of my earlier websites, I had a little javascript include that detected the time on the user’s computer and displayed a quote based on the hour. From this poem, I selected two quotes. The stanza referenced above was for 3 am. The first stanza of the poem was for midnight, or “The Witching Hour:”
“Twelve o’clock. / Along the reaches of the street / Held in a lunar synthesis, / Whispering lunar incantations / Dissolve the floors of memory / And all its clear relations.”
Reading:
Celibacy by Quentin Crisp – Really this is more about living alone. It’s an interesting read. Here is a quote I like from it: “no one is boring who will tell you the truth about himself.” If you enjoyed this, read more here (particularly “What Does it Mean to be Human?”)
- write a book with Val!
- We started on this but I doubt we’ve even written a page worth of material. That being said, I’ve been rather prolific in my head lately, so maybe I will jot something down.
- 7 deadly sins photography project
- wrath
- greed
- sloth
- pride
- lust
- envy
- gluttony
- Clearly no headway has been made on this. Further more, we just sold our camera and have yet to replace it. tick tock.
- video miniseries
- I wish I had written more of a description in my earlier entry about this. The only video project I recall starting on is about setting imagery to The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock. Hmmm… Did I have something more? - yes I did and I recall now what it was. I don’t think I will actually do this.
- write/record a few new songs
- Last time I wrote anything song-related was in November. May not do this either. I haven’t been feeling inspired lately or like a very good singer, though I do think it would be fabulous to sing an English adaptation of Non, je ne regrette rien
- travel
- Puerto Rico – check!
- Honeymoon – tickets purchased :)
- wedding
- San Antonio on October 2/3
- color scheme: orange/red/yellow (Autumn)
- dress: being fitted
- “save the dates” – created and sent (love them!)
- final reception- venue booked and menu basically chosen
- taste cakes - initial cake tasting was less than exciting. Justin found someone else we’ll probably use and will taste cakes with her very shortly in SA.
- pick out/create invitations – we’ve purchased DIY invitations but I don’t think we’re 100% set on what we are going to do just yet.
- photographer chosen :)
Other:
- learn Spanish – not started
- take a dance class – not started (though hopefully soon)
- delve into acting/public speaking – probably won’t do this
