Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Russa - tvoyasarochka

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Russa - by tvoyasarochka

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles knew what Pizza Power was all about. They just didn’t know it came in a 12-volt variety.

Let’s be realistic here… There have been many a nights I’ve wandered upstate with the goal in mind to camp, considered BBQing, but secretly just wanted to devour a freshly baked pizza. Now, some rugged people out there might actually bake a pizza over a roaring campfire. I’ve never done this. I don’t know if it is possible.

…A quick web search proves that indeed it is possible! There is an illustrious ehow article written giving detailed instructions and supplies…

But for those of us that are not quite so daring, not quite so adventurous, and, honestly, not quite so motivated to prepare pizza crusts, stoke up a roaring fire, and haul along frying pans, there is a solution. This solution was brought to my attention by Alex of “It’s What’s Between,” the Sandwich Review blog.

Portable Pizza Oven

Portable Pizza Oven

Moments like this make me want to close my tear-filled eyes, clasp my hands and whisper a heartfelt “God Bless America.” Someone has invented a portable pizza oven that plugs right into your car’s cigarette lighter. Imagine the implications. We will never have to go without pizza again!

The usefulness of this product doesn’t just begin and end with camping trips. Oh no! This audacious contraption can go anywhere you can go with four wheels! Tubing on the Guadalupe? Heat up a pizza before or after your dip in the icy waters! Going Muddin’ with some friends? How about a hot, cheesy mouthful of pepperoni pizza while you’re kickin’ up some muck. I know you’ve worked up an appetite with all that hootin’ and hollerin’! And as Sheila, blog keeper of “Little Bohemia,” mentioned - this little oven is the perfect go-to for picky eaters at a tailgate. UT fans will never go hungry again!

For those of you that are curious, you can check out this precious little product and others like it here. I am thinking the portable slow cooker would be a perfect gift for my Dad. ;)

Did the TMNTs have a vehicle? I can’t remember. But, if not, I bet they’d get one just so they could use this nifty little contraption. How great would this be for a road trip. Would sure beat the prices at pizza places if you’re traveling with several people and/or kids!

I had the turtles’ pizza-shooting vehicle in toy form. You loaded little plastic discs with pizza stickers on them into the top and it shot them behind the couch.

Vanessa: I have long held the portable pizza oven as the gold standard of everything wrong with America but your post has changed my mind. I really can’t imagine a more perfect pairing than hot pizza and muddin’. I’m sold!

You can actually make almost anything over a campfire if you have the right equipment. For most things, all you need is either a dutch oven (a type of deep, wide pot for those that don’t know) and a flat surface to cook on. Gourmet camping does exist if you don’t mind lugging it all out with you.

TMNT Van from AmazonI think they had a rockin’ VW van that they supped up with those pizzas that flew out. - Great post! Fun and infomercial material - my friend EriC was the biggest fan of TMNT! We had a pizza party a few times im sure. But the one i remember best was for one of his Birthdays=Awesome!! We even went to see the original TMNT movie for the party! Please tell me i’m not the only one that remembers this. Some how i just know - i am alone on that one.

Mom - we see eye to eye on this :)

Al - thanks for making me lol, for realz

Olivia - my ex’s aunt and uncle went on a rafting trip with an authentic French chef that prepared 5 course meals for them every night. Talk about unnecessarily lugging stuff, imho! I’ve never explore campfire cooking outside of standard hotdogs. BBQing is another story altogether, though. :)

Justin - hahaah aww it sounds like good times, sweetie! I definitely never knew there was a TMNT role playing game until I met yet. :)

I’ve never seen that rpg before, but I definitely remember the pre-cartoon comic books. My grandpa was in a nursing home with the dad of one of the creators and got me a signed copy, which I have since lost.

There was a TMNT rpg? And to think we only heard of D&D. Damn mainstream news propaganda!
I love that the little plastic discs were shot ‘behind the couch’. And, Alex, I can just imagine you hollerin to mom afterward that you can’t find them. A nursing home? Wow. How long before the cartoon were the comic books?
Sorry Olivia, I have to agree with Ness on the pleasures of KISS when camping, but, I do remember the folks at Girl Scout stuff talking about the ‘joys’ of being able to bake things in dutch ovens and coffee cans. This would have been along with saving the stuff from the dryer lint filter for making fire starters.
That’s OK Justin. We love the dorkness you bring!
