I can’t believe our babies are three already! Today marks approximately their 3rd birthday. To celebrate, Justin baked pupcakes for them! He used the same recipe as the creation he made for their first birthday, the puppy dog bone cake. This time he divided the recipe into three cupcakes. They were happy and gobbled down almost an entire cupcake before they started slowing down.

Last year we made them a sinister smelling cake with icky ingredients and bacon on top. I have to admit, the cakes of the peanut butter variety are more pleasant to smell and break into pieces for them. I think we should stick with this recipe from now on!

She has something called Cherry eye – common and fixable – however it required outpatient surgery (in and out on the same day). Eek! There are two procedures that can fix this problem: one invovles the vet to basically push the third eyelid back in and seal it with a suture – this has a 80% success rate; the other involves cutting out the part of the third eyelid that is exposed – this has many problems that can occur down the line with drying of the eye. So we chose the first option. She will be forced to wear a new see-thru Elizabethan collar – not so sexy. Eve was so sad and constantly searching for her sister all day, Occasionally i would hear a deep sigh come from her and this is when this photo was snapped.

This afternoon tromping through the downpour in Forest Hills we saved a wobbly, still partially anesthetized, extremely hungry Ruby. When Ruby came home much to Ruby’s dismay, Eve kept running away from her. Ruby was desperate for her sister’s attention and comforting nuzzles, but Eve wouldn’t have any of it – probably because she was scared of Ruby’s collar. Ruby eventually gave up on trying to get Eve’s attention and settled for pets from Mommy and daddy. Get well soon Ruby!

I have been so busy with work and random other things that there has been little to no time to update the blog. Val! was in Paris last weekend. I still haven’t seen all the pix. Seems like she had a good time though. She went over and came back on flights Dao was working. How cool!

Justin and I are off to Puerto Rico for a long weekend. I still have to work tomorrow, but at least I’ll be doing it from an island apartment overlooking the ocean. It beats the heck out of chilly New York! And the puppies are coming with us. :) Yay!!!
