Wild About Montana’s Beauty
Monday, September 15th, 2008 | Fun, Photography, Travel | 2 Comments
What a lucky gal am I? Justin flew all the way from New York City to Billings, Montana just to spend Saturday with me! He arrived at 10:30 pm on Friday night, and I dropped him at the airport at noon on Sunday. I could not have asked for a better time together, though I may have asked for it to be longer!
At first, Saturday morning was dreary and rainy. I was disappointed because I’d hoped Justin and I would make our way to Red Lodge and to the Beartooth Mountains. I knew there was hiking around and supposedly Red Lodge was a cute little town. Everyone told us to go there on our first trip to Montana in June, though the pass was still closed due to snow.
Despite the weather, we decided to head toward Red Lodge anyway. We had a delicious lunch at a pizzeria in Red Lodge. Slowly but surely, the day began to improve! We browsed in the local shops and Justin tried on, decided to buy, and then deciding not to buy a coat from an antique store. The store also had a really rad German hat from WWII but it was super tiny and wouldn’t fit my gigantic head, so I didn’t get it. We noticed intermittent patches of sunlight and decided to continue on our way to Beartooth Highway and the Beartooth Pass. I’d heard it was beautiful, but words could not express the truth of the beauty of this place. Check it out for yourself - captions and photo notes accompany the images: Photos of Snow, Hiking, Chipmunks and Kisses>>
After a lovely day of exploring a new town, a scenic drive and a bit of hiking, Justin and I relaxed in the hotel room, watched some TV, and noshed on hamburgers at Fuddruckers for dinner. We also played a hunting video game where we shot moose - that was a blast! Justin won (but I still killed more turkeys on the bonus round!). I love you, sweetheart. Thanks for coming out to Montana and showing me one heck of a good time. :)
Letter to God, Letter to the World

Dear God, World, Universe, Energy - whatever is out there…
I want to create and live off of my creations. I want to create by myself. I want to create with other people. I want to write, sing, make movies (documentaries for now). I want to help others get published and get published myself. I want to take photographs and sell them. I want Justin and I to take photographs together and travel the world. I want to make videos with Val! and have a following of people that are genuinely interested. I want us to be able to sustain a nice living off of these projects. I want to create, love and be happy - and I want the same for my loved ones and all those that want this for themselves, too.
I want life to be “how it should be.” A community of good people, good friends, creating, enjoying, being out there in the world and really living and experiencing it all.
Thanks for the thunderstorm the other night. That was a great birthday present. And thanks in advance, for the future.
Love,
Ness

‘Home’ - New
Monday, July 14th, 2008 | Adventure | 2 Comments
I returned this morning from a long weekend in Texas. I was sooo glad to be back in Justin’s cozy, safe, sensual embrace. New York with Justin, I realize, is my true, comfortable home right now. However, over the past few days I’ve had a chance to explore different concepts of what home means and where it lies.
This weekend had it’s ups and downs, but the theme of the weekend certainly was nostalgia. Memories, photos, video tapes were all unearthed and discussed. Despite my exhaustion (hours slept over the last few nights: 3, 6, 6, and 3) from the last few days, I managed to write 14 pages in my little blue book I always carry with me when I boarded the plane this morning. I then proceeded to sleep the entire rest of the way. It’s really nice to reflect, to dissect, and to return to a comfortable, loving life. I might type up some of what I wrote, but I am not sure yet.
Happy Birthday Justin!

Justin and I are taking of in the morning and won’t return for a week! We’ll spend one day in Denver, Colorado and the Rocky Mountains!! I am so psyched to see the Rockies. Justin has talked to me about them, and visiting Glenwood Springs specifically, ever since I have known him, so I am really glad we’ll get to snoop around a little bit.
The majority of our trip will be spent in Montana with three days in Billings and two full days in Yellowstone. It’s guide training time for Austin-Lehman, which is as good a reason as any for me to fly out and meet everyone, see our offices, and work on face-to-face projects.
Justin plans to set up a remote JetBlue camp for the first few days from our LaQuinta hotel room before heading out to Yellowstone with the ALA crew. I am sure we’ll keep you updated via Twitter (easy with my phone) and the blog for more thoughts, feelings, and photos.
Special thanks a mucho love to the Val! for watching our babies and inhabiting our apartment while we are gone. Happy birthday to Olivia!!!
Love you guys and I’ll miss you!
